I’m Joo-Lee, a dedicated and qualified music teacher with 40 years of experience specialising in piano, flute, and music theory. With a 100% success rate, I’ve helped numerous students from Durham University prepare for their university exams, as well as those whose degrees may not be in music but share a deep passion for it. I also support students aged 16 and above, at grade 5 or higher, who are looking for expert guidance to not only excel in their exams but also rediscover the joy and motivation in their musical journey.
All my students, from Grades One to ARSM diploma are well-prepared for their exams and therefore, getting a Pass is easily attainable; and many of them do achieve a Merit or Distinction.
I am a qualified teacher who specialises in identifying and diagnosing problems that hinder progress. I obtained my music and education qualifications at Birmingham Conservatoire and Durham University.
I can help transform your technique, for example turning a poor tone into a full, expressive one. This could be working on posture, breathing, or embouchure with the flute; or it could be developing the perfect balance between precision and relaxation at the piano. Strong technique means that new repertoire is learned more quickly and performance becomes a natural and pleasurable opportunity to communicate. I have the ability to draw out each individual’s creative and musical potential. I am an expert in motivating my students and I am as passionately engaged whether you are a beginner, a university student, or diploma candidate, and will be an inspirational guide on your musical journey.
